A history Worth Remembering......
Images of cowboys, Indians, open spaces, pioneer trails and wild rowdy miners are still part of the mystique associated with our area. Europeans may have entered the valley in the late 1700's in search of better fur trapping. However, the Lewis and Clark party left the first written records and descriptions of the area in 1805 & 1806 during their epic journey.
Gold was discovered 60 to 80 miles west of the valley. Many of those that came in search of gold decided to capitalize on Bozeman's fertile soil and stayed to farm. Thus is the beginning of the city of Bozeman in 1864. The Gallatin Valley offers a colorful history, and much, much more. Bozeman is home to the Fighting Bobcats of Montana State University, a public university of about 11,745 students.
